Japan Matsuri 2017

Koto

Koto

This year, the Japan Matsuri will amaze its public with the beautiful exhibition of Tomoko Bücher-otaki, also known as Kahoru (歌穂流), a talented Koto (箏) musician who has been living in Switzerland since 2000.

Born in Iwakuni (Japan) in 1970, Tomoko graduated from the school of traditional arts Tikushi-ryu (筑紫流) in 1987 and in 1988 she obtained the title of Kahoru, the stage name given her by her school.

Playing a different and maybe little known type of music with her Koto, a Japanese stringed musical instrument, this skillful musician will surely charm the public of Japan Matsuri and make it discover the melody of an ancient and beautiful world.
